Headbanger Shad 4-1/2"
Headbanger Shad 4-1/2"
The original Headbanger Shad 4-1/2" is a hybrid swimbait with the patented, erratic headbanging action that mimics a spooked baitfish trying to escape. A simple straight retrieve gets it hunting — add a pause or two and nearby bass, walleye, trout, or pike can't leave it alone.
Why anglers fish the Headbanger Shad 4-1/2"
- Patented erratic action — no other swimbait moves like a Headbanger
- Replaceable paddle tail — twists off the corkscrew anchor and swaps in seconds
- Three buoyancies — floating, suspending, and sinking cover the whole shallow water column from 0 to 8 ft
- Wire-through construction — lead-free stainless steel weights and rattle balls in different sizes for a fuller sound
- Proven trolling lure — holds its action all the way from 1.4 to 4 mph
When and how to fish it
Fish the Floating version over shallow flats and weed edges: retrieve slowly with the rod tip high to wake it near the surface, or crank it down to 4–5 ft with the tip low. The Suspending version sits dead-still in the water column on the pause — ideal for cold water and following fish at 2–6 ft. The Sinking version (sink rate 1 ft/s) counts down to deeper strike zones. Straight retrieves, twitches, and long pauses all trigger strikes.
